Nationwide Self Storage (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates NationWide Self Storage locations and the https://www.nationwideselfstorage.ca website (the “Service”, “Services”).
NationWide Self Storage is committed to maintaining the accuracy, confidentiality, and security of your personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”). As part of this commitment, the following Ten Privacy Principles govern our actions as they relate to the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information. Principle 1 – Accountability
NationWide Self Storage is responsible for maintaining and protecting the Personal Information under its control. NationWide Self Storage has designated an individual with senior management support who is accountable for compliance with the Ten Privacy Principles.
Regular assessment of our operational processes will incorporate our privacy management program to ensure that any concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
Principle 2 – Identifying Purposes
The purposes for which Personal Information is collected will be identified before or at the time the information is collected.
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide you with the services you have requested, to offer you additional products and services we believe you might be interested in, and to improve our service to you.
Providing us with your Personal Information is always your choice.
The types of Personal Information we may ask for typically includes your name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. To properly identify you to the property you leave with our services, we may ask for you to show government issued photo ID (such as Driver’s License, Photo BC Services Card, or Passport). For an extra layer of security to identify you to the property you leave with our services, we may suggest, ask for, and collect you for your government issued photo ID number; however, this information is optional and voluntarily provided to us.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When you visit the NationWide Self Storage website, Personal Information is not collected unless you choose to provide it voluntarily.
We may collect usage information on how our service is accessed and used. This usage data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol address (IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.
Analytics
We may use third-party Service Providers to monitor and analyze the use of our service.
Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our service. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network.
You can opt-out of having made your activity on the service available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity.

Cookies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our service and hold certain information.
Cookies are files with small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device. Tracking technologies also used are beacons, tags, and scripts to collect and track information and to improve and analyze our services.

Your information, including Personal Data is stored on our web servers on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in their Oregon Data Center. We transfer the data, including Personal Data, to Canada and process it here.

NationWide Self Storage will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of your Personal Information will take place to an organization or a country unless there are adequate controls in place for the security of your data and other personal information.
Principle 3 – Consent
Knowledge and consent are required for the collection, use or disclosure of Personal Information except where required or permitted by law.
Your provision of Personal Information to us means that:
- You agree and consent that we may collect, use and disclose your Personal Information in accordance with this policy and
- You or your representatives are authorized to provide us with your Personal Information.
If you do not agree with these terms, you and your representatives are requested not to provide any Personal Information to NationWide Self Storage. Certain services can only be offered if you provide Personal Information to NationWide Self Storage and consequently, if you and your representatives choose not to provide us with any required Personal Information, we may not be able to offer you certain services.
Principle 4 – Limiting Collection
The Personal Information collected will be limited to those details necessary for the purposes identified by NationWide Self Storage.
We use your Personal Information to communicate with you, effectively provide the services you have requested and safeguard property you leave with our service. We may also send you information about other products and services in which we believe you may be interested. In the event of collection of past due accounts, we may provide your information to a third-party collections agency.
If for any reason your information is required to fulfill a different purpose, we will obtain your consent before we proceed.
Principle 5 – Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention
Personal Information may only be used or disclosed for the purpose for which it was collected unless you have otherwise consented, or when it is required or permitted by law.
In the course of daily operations, access to private, sensitive and confidential information is restricted to authorized employees who have a legitimate business purpose and reason for accessing it. For example, when you call us, our designated employees will access your information to verify who you are and to assist you in fulfilling your requests.
As a condition of their employment and their independent contractor agreement respectively, all employees and independent contractors of NationWide Self Storage are informed about the importance of privacy and are required to abide by the privacy standards we have established.
Unauthorized access to and/or disclosure of customer information by an employee of NationWide Self Storage is strictly prohibited. All employees and independent contractors are always expected to maintain the confidentiality of customer information and failing to do so will result in appropriate disciplinary measures, which may include dismissal.
The type of information we are legally required to disclose may relate to criminal investigations. In some instances, such as a legal proceeding or court order, we may also be required to disclose certain information to authorities. Only the information specifically requested is disclosed and we take precautions to satisfy ourselves that the authorities that are making the request have legitimate grounds to do so.
Personal information will only be retained for the period of time required to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected or as required by law.
Principle 6 – Accuracy
Personal Information will be maintained in as accurate, complete and up-to-date form as is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it is to be used.
To ensure the security of your property left with our service it is important that your Personal Information is accurate and complete. When we initially collect your Personal Information, we require verification of your identity by form of government issued Photo ID. We encourage you to update your Personal Information kept on file with us once any changes occurs.
Principle 7 – Safeguarding Personal Information
Personal Information will be protected by security safeguards that are appropriate to the sensitivity level of the information.
Customer Files
Electronic customer files are kept in a secured environment with restricted access. Paper-based files are stored in locked filing cabinets with restricted access.
Online Security
The security of your data is important to us, we strive to use the most current commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data.
Your data is submitted via our Reservation system is sent to our software provider Sitelink which manages our storage facilities.
To safeguard against unauthorized access to your accounts, you may be required to “sign-on” using a user id and a password to certain secured areas of the NationWide Self Storage website.
Both user id and password are encrypted when sent over the Internet. If you are unable to provide the correct password, you will not be able to access these sections.
When you call our customer service centre you will be required to verify your identity by providing some personally identifying information.
Principle 8 – Openness
NationWide Self Storage will make information available to our customers concerning the policies and practices that apply to the management of their Personal Information.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
We will let you know via email and/or a prominent notice on our Service, prior to the change becoming effective and update the “effective date” at the top of this Privacy Policy.
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
Principle 9 – Customer Access
Upon request, a customer shall be informed of the existence, use and disclosure of their Personal Information, and shall be given access to it. Customers may verify the accuracy and completeness of their Personal Information, and may request that it be amended, if appropriate.

Amending Your Information
To help us keep your Personal Information up-to-date, we encourage you to amend inaccuracies and make corrections as often as necessary. Despite our efforts, errors sometimes do occur. Should you identify any incorrect or out-of-date information in your file(s), we will make the proper changes. Where appropriate, we will communicate these changes to other parties who may have unintentionally received incorrect information from us.
To Make a Change
To make a change to the personal contact information contained in your file, simply notify NationWide either in writing or by email at hello@nationwideselfstorage.ca from the email address we have on account for you.
Alternatively, you may make changes in person at our office by providing some personally identifying information.
